‘Stop the Traffik’ Global Coalition

Soroptimist International has joined the ‘Stop the Traffik’ Global Coalition.

 

What is the purpose of ‘Stop the Traffik’?

 

‘STOP THE TRAFFIK’ is a global movement against the trafficking of people. It has more than 1,000 member organisations in 50 countries & a grass roots following of ordinary activists around the world.

 

How does it relate to our aims?

The work undertaken by the campaign is directly related to Objective 2 in the Programme Focus 2007-2011: End human trafficking and all forms of violence against women.  The international office of the campaign is based in the UK and the coalition includes many countries such as:

Albania, Australia, Azerbaijan, Bangladesh, Belarus, Belgium, Bulgaria, Burkina Faso, Cambodia, Cameroon, Canada, China, Czech Republic, Eire, Equador, Estonia, Ethiopia, Ghana, Greece, Hong Kong, Hungary, India, Lebanon, Malaysia, Moldova, Nepal, Netherlands, Nigeria, Norway, Pakistan, Philippines, Romania, South Africa, South Korea, Sri Lanka, Thailand, UK, USA and Zimbabwe.

SI clubs are established in all but a few of the listed countries above.

What is SI already doing to combat human trafficking?

SI clubs are working on many projects designed to end human trafficking and all forms of violence against women and girls. There are many ambitious projects around the world which illustrate the importance members place on this objective:
