The fifty-ninth session of the Commission for Social Development (CSocD59) will take place from 8 to 17 February 2021 at the United Nations Headquarters in New York, and for the first time, participants from across the world are able to join virtually. The Commission is the advisory body responsible for the social development pillar of global development.
Priority Theme for the 2021 Session:
‘Socially just transition towards sustainable development: the role of digital technologies on social development and well-being of all.’
As today’s society is dominated by digital technologies – even more so as households become isolated during the COVID-19 pandemic – many Soroptimist projects place women’s and girls’ access, use and knowledge of digital technology at their core.
Covering a range of topics in relation to the role of digital technologies: Wellbeing and Human Rights; Education and the Economy; and Law and Regulation, the CSocD59 SI Statement can be viewed HERE.
The SI Written Statement can also be viewed HERE.
