58 State Representatives Receive SI's UNESCO Statement on International Migration

On May 5th – 6th, four of our SI UN Representatives attended the UNESCO Executive Board Meeting of the Committee on International NGOs in Paris. Of particular interest was a day of debate and learning dedicated to the social and human impact of international migration.

UNESCO state:

"Migration has become a key challenge for the international community.
States and international organizations have in recent years dedicated
unprecedented energy to address the issues raised by the cross-border
movements of people. States and the international community, including
non-governmental organizations, must find policy orientations that make
migration beneficial for all, including sending and receiving countries
and migrants themselves."

Experts from Member States, NGOs as well as from the International
Organization for Migration (IOM) participated in
this session.
SI submitted a statement about our work in Moldova which is done in partnership with the IOM. We are very pleased to report that a copy of our statement was included in the file given to the State representatives attending the meeting. 58 in total!

Webcasts of the debates are available following these links: Thursday 5 May morning and Thursday 5 May afternoon.

Read the news article about our submission here.

Read the full statement on our UNESCO page here.

We look forward to sharing the full report from our UN Representatives shortly!
