The United Nations World Food Programme (WFP), the Food and Agriculture Organisation (FAO) and the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD), are based in Rome. These three UN Agencies work to defeat hunger and ensure that people have access to healthy lives. This leads to a very focused programme of work, and as such, SI’s UN Representative for this centre focuses on women’s roles in transforming rural economies and food systems by making them more inclusive, productive, resilient and sustainable.
