Gearing Up for CSW in New York? – Here’s Your Networking & Negotiations A-Z Map!
CSW is
always a busy time for Soroptimist International. This year from 9 – 20 March, Soroptimists
from across the world will gather in New York to help advocate for women and
girls, and to run events. To help those who want to be more informed about
CSW59, Former International Assistant Programme Director Anusha Santhirasthipam
will be presenting a pro-active webinar introducing advocacy at CSW. Anusha is
a highly experienced Soroptimist International delegate, having attended
multiple CSWs. This seminar is sure to be highly informative, engaging, and the
perfect preparation for CSW.
In the coming weeks, Soroptimist International
will be helping spread the word about CSW59. This webinar is one of the ways
that can help you get involved.

In Anusha’s own words, this is what the webinar aims to do:
“The large SI Delegation going to CSW59 means that Soroptimists can
have collective global impact. Delegates can influence how Governments
and the UN shape messages, policies and laws, in order to better safeguard gender
equality and more effectively champion women’s empowerment at all levels.
Find out how to make the best use of your time and professional
expertise, gain confidence, share and strengthen NGO partnerships, be more
strategic within your regional country groupings, relax and enjoy conversation
circles and UN New York’s unique culture and charm. Most importantly, know how
to stay relevant, focused and stress-free during the very hectic and often
chaotic juggle between meetings and side events – each and every SI delegate
can exert great skill and influence to ensure positive and firm resolutions and
agreements at the United Nations!”
To ensure that as many members of the delegation as possible can join
in, Anusha will be running the same seminar twice. By doing this she, and Soroptimist
International, hope that there is a time that works for you, whichever time
zone you live in.
The two webinars will be on Sunday 15 February at 3pm Malaysia Time
(MYT) and Monday 16 February at 6am MYT. Information

“CSW59 and
Beijing+20 is a once-in-a-generation opportunity for Soroptimists to help
influence the future development agenda and to help better the status of women
and girls across the world. This is a rare chance for the four Federations to
unite, and to speak with one voice. It is a strength of Soroptimist
International that it is able to present so many cultural views and experiences
under one organisation.” International President Ann Garvie
