We are using Microsoft Teams for the SI Inspiring Change Branding webinar. Microsoft Teams runs these very slightly differently to Zoom meetings but will provide you with a more streamlined and professional experience and allows us to share a better recording with those who could not join us.
Signing up to a webinar
You sign up to a webinar using the link provided to you via an email or social media post. When you click the event link you will be taken to a page that looks similar to this:
If you click on ‘Register’ you will be taken to the registration page which will look something like this:
You just need to fill in your details, and click ‘Register’.
You will receive an email from “Soroptimist International” confirming your registration. This email will have a button which says, “Join Event” – this is what you need to click on to join the webinar when it’s time.

If you use a calendar which is connected to your email, please check it as your webinar registration and joining details may have automatically inserted to the date and time.
If you have not received the email – please check your ‘junk’ or ‘spam’ folders as some email providers may consider the email to be spam.
Joining the webinar on the day
Teams is available using a web browser or as a downloadable app.
I have a Microsoft Outlook account
- Before the meeting, webinar or event takes place, download the Microsoft Teams app from the Microsoft download centre. This is completely free to do.
- Open the Teams app and follow the instructions to sign in using your Outlook or Microsoft 365 account details. Only do this if you signed up to the webinar using that email!
- At the time of the meeting, open the email invite and select Join Microsoft Teams Meeting.
- Teams will open in a web browser. Select Open Microsoft Teams when prompted.
- The Teams app will open. Follow the instructions to join the meeting.
I don’t have a Microsoft Outlook account
- You must be using the latest version of either the Microsoft Edge or Google Chrome web browsers to follow these instructions. You can download the latest version of Microsoft Edge for free from Microsoft or download the latest version of Google Chrome for free from Google. Both browsers work on PC and Mac; Chrome is also available on Linux. You won’t be able to access the meeting space unless you are using the latest version of one of these browsers, so please ensure you are running one before the meeting, webinar or event.
- At the time of the meeting, webinar or event, open the email invite and select Join Microsoft Teams Meeting.
- Teams will open in a web browser. Select Join on the web.
- If you are prompted for permissions to access your webcam and microphone, select Accept.
- Enter your name.
- Select Join Now.
