On the occasion of International Literacy Day, the French Union of Soroptimist International has organised a Conferences and Debates Day to be held on 11 September 2017, from 9:30 am to 5:00 pm at UNESCO, Paris, Room IV, 7 Place de Fontenoy 75007 Paris

10.00 – 10.15 Opening of the Conference by a UNESCO Representative
10.15 – 10.30 Literacy, a worrying ascertainment at the global level: Introduction and Presentation of the three round tables by Evelyne Para, President French Union of Soroptimist International
10.30 – 11.30 1st Round Table: What are the main issues of literacy and the fight against illiteracy today in the world?

Speakers: Geneviève Sanze, NGO New Humanity; Hélène Mouty, National Coordinator of UNESCO Associated Schools; Anne Brockmeier, Professor at the Franco-German High School of BUC (France); Hervé Fernandez, Director of the National Agency for the Fight Against Illiteracy. Moderator: Marie-Claude Allez, NGO ATD Fourth World.
