CSW59

The fifty-ninth session of the Commission on the Status of Women took place at United Nations Headquarters in New York from 9 to 20 March 2015.

The main focus of the session was on the Beijing Platform for Action (BPfA), as 2015 marked the 20th Anniversary of its adoption. The Commission looked at the challenges that affect the implementation of the BPfA and the achievement of gender equality and the empowerment of women. The secondary theme of CSW59 was the Post-2015 Development Agenda, which was officially agreed later in 2015, and established the sustainable development goals.
