SI is excited to announce the launch of our new monthly focus files! Over the course of each month, SI will provide in-depth information and cutting edge resources on a specific topic to translate the work of our international advocacy team, focussing on the work of our UN Reps, into practical tools and action ideas.
When speaking about the work of our UN Reps, we so often hear “So what can we DO about it?” The Monthly Focus Files aims to answer that question. The first week, we will offer resources for raising awareness, the second week for learning about international advocacy, the third week for taking practical on the ground action, and the fourth week for additional tools for more in-depth exploration. We hope this will inspire Soroptimists to add an international perspective to issues clubs are already working on, or to explore something new with a truly global focus.
In light of events in
Natural disasters are increasing in quantity and intensity. Women and girls experience disasters differently – in their access to resources to manage the immediate impact, their lack of opportunities to economically recover, and in their specific health and safety needs in both the short and long term. As women and girls tend to be more socially vulnerable, they are often far less equipped to deal with disasters.
We will be adding more information to raise awareness about this topic all of next week before moving on to international advocacy, ideas for actions and further information for in depth exploration. We hope you will visit the Monthly Focus page over the coming month as we examine this issue more closely.
