At the recent Soroptimist International of Great Britain and Ireland (SIGBI) Conference SI President Siew Yong Gnanalingam gave a heartfelt and insightful reflection on her first year as SI President during her presentation which focused on ‘Enable’. She shared her experiences, achievements, and challenges, providing a glimpse into her leadership journey so far.
President Siew Yong began by emphasising her commitment to SI’s mission of educating, empowering, and enabling women and girls worldwide. Over the past year, she has travelled across the globe to support SI Federation events and focused on strengthening partnerships, amplifying advocacy efforts, and uniting Soroptimists under a shared vision for progress. Reflecting on her travels, she spoke of meeting Soroptimists in diverse communities, witnessing first hand the transformative impact of their projects, and drawing inspiration from their dedication.
Concluding her address, President Siew Yong expressed gratitude for the unwavering support of Soroptimists, especially for SIGBI members and called for continued unity and innovation. Her reflections underscored the importance of collective action, celebrating the progress achieved while appreciating that we still have a long journey ahead.
