Dear Soroptimists,

This week I will be attending the event ‘Rules of Water, Rules for Life’, the first edition of an annual conference organised by Milano Global and the Milan Center for Food Law and Policy, held in Milan on the theme of water as a legal asset and as a key element of sustainable development. As President of both SI and Women for Water Partnership, and as a 2017 winner of the ‘Women of the Decade Creating a Better World for All’ Award, I have been invited to address the audience on the subject of the role women play in the provision, management, and safeguarding of water.

During the Forum there will be the ceremony for Women Peacebuilders for Water (WPW), for which I will be a jury member. The Prize addresses the female individuals who commit themselves to resolving the water-related conflicts either by spreading the knowledge on such important issue or by working directly on the field.

I am looking forward to setting steps in the right direction where Women, Water, and Leadership are concerned – the way to go towards achieving SDGs 5 and 6: Gender Equality and Safe Water for All and for All Purposes.
