The Sky's the Limit – President Ann to Skydive for See Solar, Cook Solar!

Soroptimist International President Ann
Garvie will overcome her fear of heights and take to the skies to
raise funds for “See Solar, Cook Solar”, her December 10 Appeal
to provide solar lamps and cookers to women and girls around the
world, while providing education about renewable energy.

“Many of you will have made New Year resolutions”, writes Ann
in her New Year message to Soroptimists. “I have just signed up to a very personal
challenge, I am going to Skydive!! Why? because I could not say NO to
the challenge of very persuasive Soroptimist, Margaret Baker of SI
South Lancashire”.

Margaret, Vice-President of the South Lancashire Region in the UK
– pictured above – and fellow Soroptimist Victoria Smerdon
(regional President-Elect), completed a sponsored skydive in 2013 to
raise money for their regional Air Ambulance service.

“On 15th June 2014, weather permitting, I will jump
from an aircraft to raise funds and awareness for my December 10th
Appeal, See
Solar, Cook Solar
", explains Ann. "Is there a catch? Apart from my fear of
heights, yes! I am seeking global sponsorship for the team of three,
possibly four and myself.”

To sponsor President Ann, donations can be sent to Soroptimist International HQ in Cambridge, UK. Donations for the See Solar Cook Solar Appeal can also be sent via SI Federation HQ offices.  Contact information for SIHQ and SI Federations.
