The Voice of Young Women at CSW

New York, New York-snow then sun and biting
wind. Always a challenge walking to and from the many and varied events. Even
more so this year when the UN building is under major construction so most of
it is out of bounds. So all sessions are crammed into the Church centre and the
Salvation army centre .Any session in the North lawn as it is called –a
temporary but very permanent looking tented structure-are ticket only .All very
complicated!

Having said all that what a joy to be
here. All ones batteries being recharged as you meet and listen to inspiring speakers.

Particularly the young men and women who
are here, some from our partner organization, WAGGGS who shared our excellent
workshop yesterday.

Today some young people from the UK
challenged us about education and opportunities for young women. What excellent
and competent speakers. I am sure I did not have that ability at 17 years old.
One young woman yesterday, aged 16, told how she and her peers had forced a
change in the constitution of the state of Vermont as it had mitigated against
17 year olds in the voting system whereas other American states hadn’t!

Sop onwards and upwards-off to another
session.

When will I have time to sleep?
