On the 24th October, 2012, UN Women are holding an honorary event entitled ‘Empowering Women for 25 years’. It will be the 25th Anniversary Celebration of the Metro Chapter of the US National Committee for UN Women.
The event will honour women and organisations who have, and are, making a difference towards the Advancement of Women around the world. Individual Honorees will include Abigail E. Two NGO’s will also be receiving an award, Business & Professional Women International (BPW), founded in 1930 and working hard to achieve gender equality in the workplace; and last but not least, Soroptimist International! We were overjoyed when we heard this news. We are so proud of our achievements and it is a joy to be recognised for our tireless efforts over the last 91 years!
One of our hard-working UN Representatives from New York, Lois Beilin, has kindly offered to accept the award and we are very excited to hear back from Lois on this momentus occasion.
